About Our Firm

A Focused Legal Partner for Credit Unions in Florida and Georgia

When you engage Sorenson Van Leuven, PLLC, you are getting a coordinated legal team that works together across litigation, bankruptcy, foreclosure, compliance, and operational matters.

Founded to Work Alongside Financial Institutions

Our Story

Sorenson Van Leuven was built around one idea: credit unions deserve a legal partner who understands how they operate and who is invested in their long-term success.

What began as a focused practice within a larger firm evolved into a dedicated firm serving credit unions throughout Florida and Georgia. From the beginning, our goal has been to build relationships, not simply handle cases. We work alongside executive teams and operational leaders, offering guidance that supports thoughtful decision-making.

What Sets Our Work Apart

How We Work

Long-Term Partnerships
We work alongside executive leadership, boards, and operational teams as an ongoing legal partner. That continuity allows us to understand institutional priorities and risk considerations at a practical level. Over time, our role becomes proactive rather than reactive.

Education as Part of Service
We host an annual client seminar, publish newsletters, present webinars, and speak at industry events. Our goal is to equip leadership teams with timely information that supports thoughtful decision-making.

Structured for Consistent Execution
Our attorneys and support professionals operate within defined systems designed to keep matters progressing and communication clear. Deadlines are tracked. Updates are provided. Processes are refined over time. That structure allows us to serve efficiently while remaining accessible and responsive.

Serving Credit Unions Across Florida and Georgia

Our Region

We represent credit unions throughout Florida and Georgia. Our team includes six attorneys licensed in Florida and three licensed in Georgia.

We operate with what we call a hometown philosophy. Even when we are not physically located in a client’s city, we serve as if we are. We travel when needed. We stay accessible. And we do not charge for travel to provide legal services in our clients’ communities.

Discover what clients are saying

“Everglades Federal Credit Union has partnered with Sorenson Van Leuven for 12 years. The firm is professional yet approachable. We rely on them for collections, bankruptcies, foreclosures, and other matters as they arise. With their knowledgeable team, our unique challenges are handled efficiently. Our recoveries doubled after we began working with them, and their ongoing training keeps our staff up to date. I would absolutely recommend them.”

Marta Betancourt

“Working with Sorenson Van Leuven has always been a positive experience. They are quick to respond to inquiries and requests and keep their clients informed of the latest news and changes. As a smaller institution, we value having a firm that works closely with and for us.”

Leianne Harden

“We began our relationship with Sorenson Van Leuven back in 2008 at the worst point in First Choice Credit Union’s history during the real estate crisis. With their guidance, we were able to navigate loan modifications and foreclosures and reach a safe landing. We value our long-time relationship with the firm.”
